Overcoming the limitations of Rotary and Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) drones
With an increased global demand for cargo delivery, as evidenced by the supply-chain logistics issues highlighted by the challenges of distributing COVID-19 vaccines, we are now seeing innovation and regulatory backing for drone-based cargo delivery. We are therefore building the world's first active robotic mechanism and associated control system that behaves as a dynamic runway for fixed-wing air vehicles. These mechanisms are expected to reduce typical runway needs for small fixed-wing air vehicles by nearly 75%. They can be installed on building rooftops and relatively small ground-based locations such as parking lots, serving as landing and launching infrastructure for fixed-wing drones that are transporting valuable cargo in hard to reach geographical locations.
